About RoofPriceGuide
Roofing is one of the largest purchases a homeowner makes with the least public price information. RoofPriceGuide exists to close that gap: independent research into what a roof should cost, and a way to read a contractor quote you have already been handed.
What we do
- Maintain a single, documented calculation engine that produces roof price ranges from the inputs a homeowner actually has.
- Publish the assumptions behind those ranges, along with each assumption’s verification status, in an open source registry.
- Help homeowners interpret a quote they have received, including the important point that a higher price is not automatically an unfair one.
What we are not
We are not a roofing contractor and we do not perform roofing work. We do not require you to submit contact details, and we do not sell homeowner leads, to show you a basic estimate. We do not publish contractor advertising dressed up as pricing research.
Where the project stands
RoofPriceGuide is early. The calculation engine, the methodology and the review workflow are built and public. The pricing assumptions themselves are still being sourced and reviewed, so estimates that rely on an unverified assumption are labeled as research-preview figures rather than validated market prices. We would rather say that plainly than imply a level of validation we have not earned yet.
